While my typical student is in a more mature age bracket, this workshop is suitable for all ages 13 and upwards. Happy to have a parent along as a chaperone for youngsters and there is a cafe and toilet in the vacinity.

About the workshop
I've been running photography workshops since 2016 with over 1,000 students attending my classes. So do you have a DSLR or mirrorless camera that you don’t feel confident enough to get off Auto mode? Do you have many photos that are lacking in punch, or just don’t feel like they are expressing the same emotion as what you saw when you took the shot? Or maybe you have a few photos that you are particularly proud of but you are just unable to replicate them again?
Join me, an award winning Canberra landscape photographer, and I’ll take you on an introduction to using your DSLR or Mirrorless camera and get you off Auto mode. This workshop is designed to give you the fundamental understanding on how different shutter speed, aperture and ISO can be used creatively to pursue the photography you love. You will also be shown considerations on how to compose a photo so it is more impactful for you, and your viewers.
You’ll accompany me along the shore of Lake Burley Griffin where you’ll be given tuition on how to use your camera in terms and language you will be able to understand. In fact, I’m is so confident that you will get immense value out of his workshop that in the event after the first hour you feel it is not for you you may leave the workshop and receive a full refund – this is my guarantee.

Photography Equipment required

The workshop was just right for someone looking to move off auto mode. The functions Glenn taught were simple and easy to understand and it was just enough so you didn’t finish the workshop feeling overwhelmed.

Fitness level
During the course of the workshop you will walk approximately 2kms on generally flat even ground. Note that Canberra’s climate in summer can be particularly hot, and winter is quite cold so dress appropriately
Cancellations
Weather cancellation
- Only in the event that it is raining or rain imminent within an hour of the workshop commencing will it be cancelled and all participants will be notified via SMS
- If the workshop is cancelled due to weather, participants will have the choice of either a full refund, or to be first on the list for the next workshop
Participant cancellation
- Participants may cancel one full week out from the workshop for a full refund
- If cancelling less than a week from the workshop unfortunately only a 50% refund will be offered
- Participants can transfer their place in the workshop to friends or family at no penalty

Beginners DSLR Course
I did this course on the weekend. What a great way to spend a Saturday! Had a thoroughly good time and learnt heaps about my camera. I won’t be just point and shoot from here on in. Glenn was easy to understand, clear and patient. I enjoyed his presentation and how as we moved from place to place Glenn explained a bit more so that we did not get overwhelmed with information. There were plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get help. Thanks again Glenn. I would definitely recommend this course. Develop some more!

Game changer!
Glenn is an absolute legend, so knowledgeable and generous with his time and experience. I had a DSLR camera sitting in my cupboard for 5 years, because I was too intimidated by it . I finally bit the bullet and signed up to do a course with Glenn, and knew 10 mins in that this is exactly what I needed to get me started. I'm now confident practicing and troubleshooting with different environments and subjects. I only wish I'd done this course sooner! Would definitely recommend to anyone :)

Glenn Martin's beginners photography workshop.
This workshop saved me several thousand dollars! I was convinced my current camera was crap and I needed to spend a motza to get decent photos. Four hours with Glenn revealed the camera was capable of great photos and I just needed to learn how to use it. I've used it just about every day since and taken up bird photography with great results. Thanks Glenn, I'll be back for the advanced course.

Wow! I am a very beginner and got my first camera the week I did Glenn's course. I learnt so much, he was very patient and kind. He had answers for all of my questions (and I had many). I would definitely recommend the course!

An excellent teacher!
Glenn was kind and incredibly patient with me as I struggled to use my DSLR camera. He taught at a good pace and helped me understand the settings on my camera and how to use them to their full potential for the best photographs. I highly recommend this course to others, especially those who are a bit nervous about giving it a go. It was great value for money!
