Glenn’s beginners workshop was perfect for me as I really didn’t know enough to produce the photos I could see in my head -  I knew close to nothing. Glenn’s mix of theory, practice, feedback and just plain fun have me knowing enough to experiment and produce shots with intent. Can’t speak too highly of Glenn as a teacher, Such a great experience.

About the workshop

I've been running photography workshops since 2016 with over 1,000 students attending my classes. So do you have a DSLR or mirrorless camera that you don’t feel confident enough to get off Auto mode? Do you have many photos that are lacking in punch, or just don’t feel like they are expressing the same emotion as what you saw when you took the shot? Or maybe you have a few photos that you are particularly proud of but you are just unable to replicate them again?

Join me, an award winning Canberra landscape photographer, and I’ll take you on an introduction to using your DSLR or Mirrorless camera and get you off Auto mode. This workshop is designed to give you the fundamental understanding on how different shutter speed, aperture and ISO can be used creatively to pursue the photography you love. You will also be shown considerations on how to compose a photo so it is more impactful for you, and your viewers.

You’ll accompany me along the shore of Lake Burley Griffin where you’ll be given tuition on how to use your camera in terms and language you will be able to understand. In fact, I’m is so confident that you will get immense value out of his workshop that in the event after the first hour you feel it is not for you you may leave the workshop and receive a full refund – this is my guarantee.

A great day around the lake learning the fundamentals. Glenn has plenty of knowledge and patience and makes sure everyone keeps up. I am now off the auto setting and can see instant improvement in my pics

I recently attended Glenn’s beginner’s workshop. I found it to be informative and enjoyable. Glenn is an excellent photographer and instructor, friendly, accommodating and excellent at interacting with others. The event was well organised, the selected location was scouted beforehand, interesting and good for photography. I am looking forward to attending other workshops

Good to see theory in practice

Posted by Alain on 22nd Jun 2023

I found the time split between theory and practice well balanced. It was a very good introduction and helped me see the practical use of the various 'controls' available once out of 'auto' mode.

    Beginner's DSLR Workshop

Posted by Jo on 17th May 2023

Thank you Glenn for a great workshop, I really enjoyed the day, it was made very practical and easy to understand. I walked away with a whole lot more knowledge of how to use my camera, and not just stuck in auto which allows me to be more creative in my photography.

This course was fun, engaging and full of all the information needed to pull out my camera and start taking photos again. Glenn tailored his discussion not just to the collective but also individuals so that we got the most out of the day. 5 star rating!!

Over and above what was expected

Posted by Julia on 3rd Apr 2023

The beginners course went over and above what was expected. Glenn is humble, yet very knowledgeable in many areas relating to photography. Any questions we had were answered in a way that was logical and nothing was considered too 'simple'. Thank you Glenn Julia T

I could see an immediate improvement in my shots

Posted by Craig on 3rd Apr 2023

Thanks for a welcoming, relaxed and informative Beginners Workshop experience Glenn. With a better understanding of the exposure triangle and the realisation that one doesn't have to shoot full manual all the time (aperture priority is our friend), I could see an immediate improvement in my shots the following week whilst on holiday on the Central Coast. I found your workshop great value for money and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to kick start their photography journey. I hope you introduce an Intermediate Workshop to follow up and take things to the next level. Craig R. from Facebook

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Glenn's photography workshops

Posted by Doris on 3rd Apr 2023

I have done a few beginners photography workshops in Brisbane, Sydney and just recently in Canberra. They were all good but the most informative one and enjoyable one was with Glenn for 4 hours (Canberra). I thought 4 hours would be too much but it went quickly because of Glenn's wit and knowledge that he passed on to us. If only I stayed in one state permanently and know where I am going to be in the next 3 months, I would book Glenn for a one to one workshop. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Glenn's photography workshops. Thank you Glenn - I am slowly learning my camera and trying to remember to apply all what you have taught the group?? Till next time. Doris H. from Facebook 7/10/2019

Already looking forward to putting into practice what he taught

Posted by Andrejs on 3rd Apr 2023

Did the DSLR beginners Photography course with Glenn Martin on Saturday 16 July. I gained a good insight into photography outside the "auto" mode. Glenn was informative and was able to convey the subject matter in a clear and entertaining manner. I enjoyed the workshop and am already looking forward to putting into practice what he taught.
